What they learn
- Basic hip hop steps, taught slowly and repeated until they feel natural.
- Rhythm and musicality: hearing the beat and dancing on time.
- Choreography suited to each age, which trains memory and coordination.
- Dancing as a group, with room for each dancer to show their own style.
- Confidence to dance in front of other people.
Why hip hop works for children
A hip hop class is an hour of real movement: jumping, changing direction and coordinating arms and legs to music, almost without noticing the effort. Learning a routine in a group also trains attention and memory, and dancing in front of classmates helps shy children come out of their shell.
Hip hop or ballet?
There is no need to choose. Some students do both in the same year: hip hop is looser and more urban, while ballet gives technique, posture and discipline.
